Biographical Note:

I'm drawn to questions of work, of how different people engage in their work and how they define themselves in it. My dissertation connects the history of film censorship and distribution policy with the culture of production, connecting the past to the present via archival and ethnographic research. I've directed two documentary shorts, the first on folk musicians in Brooklyn and the second on Christmas tree vendors on my Manhattan street corner, and have been hired on the documentary projects of others. My creative writing has appeared in Curbside Splendor and the Jersey Devil Press. I received my B.A. in Sociology from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
