Bio
Joanna Chae is a PhD student in the Department of Sociology at Columbia University. Her interests lie in the intersection between race, poverty, and urban education.
Prior to her PhD studies, Joanna oversaw university-assisted STEM education initiatives at public schools in West Philadelphia. She was awarded the Gold Award from the Penn School of Arts and Sciences in 2015 in recognition of her contributions to the university and broader community.
