Biographical Note: 

Josh Aleksanyan is a first year doctoral student and Paul F. Lazarsfeld Fellow at Columbia University, His work broadly explores how social and political life is governed through situations and relations of control, from health and medicine to prisons and policing. He is particularly interested in how changes in work and the workplace shapes how institutions manage social marginality. Josh received his B.A. in sociology from Bard College. Prior to beginning his doctoral work, Josh worked as a user experience researcher, most recently at Google and InVision where he worked on enterprise-level software design.
