Bio
Nina Parsee is an MA student in the Department of Sociology. Prior to attending Columbia University, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in Global Health from the University of California, Los Angeles. Her work has explored the transformative impact of prison education, barriers to reproductive health access, and the social dynamics of gang involvement. Currently, Nina's research centers on the intersection of race and gender within the criminal justice system, with a particular focus on how intimate partner violence shapes the pathways of women of color toward criminalization and incarceration. She is dedicated to uncovering the systemic factors that contribute to these trajectories.
