Bio

As a self-proclaimed "urban belle", Yvonne is originally from Lafayette, LA and received her B.A. in Psychology and B.S. in Sociology from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX. After graduating SMU, Yvonne received her M.A. and Ed.M. in Higher and Postsecondary Education at Teachers College-Columbia University. Yvonne has over five years of full-time professional experience in student affairs, where she has done work within residential life, fraternity and sorority life, student conduct, crisis response, wellness, and diversity and inclusion. Currently, Yvonne oversees the fraternities and sororities at Columbia full-time while attending the MA program part time. Yvonne is broadly interested in the relationship between gender and society, giving attention to the structures and constructs that shape gender and how those constructs change over time in response to evolving societal norms, policies, and social movements. On a micro-level, Yvonne hopes to better understand and mitigate sexual assault and gender-based misconduct on college campuses.
