Bio

Brady Kennedy studies issues at the intersection of urban, cultural, and economic sociology with a focus on topics such as gentrification and cultural notions of authenticity and nostalgia. He incorporates a mixed-method approach into his work, owing to his background as an alumnus of The University of Florida as an economics major and geography minor. Before entering the Columbia University masters program in sociology, Kennedy gained research experience collaborating with then UF IFAS associate dean Dr. Michael Gutter to research the "financial toxicity" produced by cancer care costs in the US, and later working with the River Phoenix Center For Peacebuilding to analyze the potential for restorative practices in the juvenile justice system to produce measurable public benefit in economic and social terms.
