Bio

Courtney Castleman is a disability awareness instructor and foster-youth program coordinator in the Bay Area. She received her MA in Sociology from Columbia University in 2019 and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Mills College with a BA in Sociology and a minor in Urban Education. Her work explores educational institutions, social inequality, disability, and the act of disclosure. Her goals are to push for equitable representation of people with diverse disabilities and level the playing field for people from historically underrepresented groups in higher education. She is also interested in expanding her work to include equitable employment opportunities and media representation.
