Mila is pursuing her MA in the Department of Sociology. Prior to her enrollment at Columbia, she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor's degree in Sociology and Spanish from the University of Miami. During her undergraduate studies, she served as a research assistant with the Miami Health and Justice Lab. In this role, Mila contributed to a diary study focused on understanding the impact of drug use and intimate partner violence on the life-course trajectories of Mexican-American women in San Antonio, Texas. Presently, Mila is conducting a comparative study to examine menstrual leave policies in Spain and the United States. Her research interests encompass the intersections of culture, health, race, ethnicity, and gender.
