Julian is a Paul Z. Lazarsfeld Fellow in the Department of Sociology and came to Columbia as a Fulbright fellow after obtaining his B.A. from Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin in 2014. His work focuses on the epistemic authority attributed to numbers in public, especially economic discourse and the everyday life of finance. Moreover, he maintains a vivid interest in exploring the historical a prioris of the sociological imagination. He also serves as a contributing editor for the online review Public Books.
