Bio
Xiaoxin is an MA student in the Department of Sociology at Columbia University. She got her BA in Sociology and Economics from UC San Diego. Her primary research interest lies in sociology of culture and education. In her undergraduate thesis, she explored the career aspirations of Chinese international students in the United States, with a focus on their cultural integration experiences. She presently holds a particular interest in the dynamic interplay between popular culture and mainstream values. Her master's research focuses on the online identity management of popular culture fandoms on Chinese social media platforms.
