Bio
Alia Nahra is a JD/PhD student and Paul F. Lazarsfeld Fellow in the Sociology department at Columbia University. Her research focuses on sexual violence within the criminal legal system, investigating how power is reinforced and weaponized by agents of the carceral state. Before joining Columbia, Alia worked in the Justice Program of the Brennan Center for Justice at NYU School of Law, conducting research and policy advocacy aimed at ending mass incarceration.
