Bio
Claire Corsten (she/her) is a PhD student in the Sociology Department at Columbia University. Her research examines how information and communication technologies shape both carceral experiences and external perceptions of punishment, as well as the broader history of prisoner-to-public communication methods and penal resistance.
Prior to pursuing her doctoral degree at Columbia, Claire worked as a Senior Program Analyst for The Fortune Society, a nonprofit organization based in New York City providing a range of services for individuals transitioning from incarceration to the community. Claire holds an M.A. in Sociology and a B.A. (major in Sociology and Political Science) from McGill University.
