Biographical Note
Madeline (she/her) is a first-year sociology PhD student. She is interested in how scientific and biomedical knowledge gets produced, why it gets produced in the way that it does, and the social consequences of those processes. She is particularly interested in these questions as they relate to genetics and genomics. She also studies how and why AI is or isn’t being integrated into healthcare systems. Her past research has spanned vaccination and Long Covid outcomes, AI and trust in healthcare settings, neural mechanisms involved in cocaine relapse, and the relationship between immune cells and coronary artery disease.
Madeline holds an MS in genetic epidemiology from Johns Hopkins and a BA in biology from Indiana University, where she graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa.
Outside of work, Madeline enjoys reading for fun, doing jiu jitsu, losing in chess, and re-watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
