PhD student Yanze Yu was selected as a winner of the 2025 Sasakawa Young Leaders Fellowship for his project "Life Alchemy: Rare Disease Classification and Orphan Drug Development in China." The award provides support to graduate students to pursue summer research, language study, or an internship in or related to East or Southeast Asia.
The Weatherhead East Asian Institute, which oversees the award, is the hub for the study of modern and contemporary East, Southeast, and Inner Asia at Columbia University.
