We are thrilled to have Xi Song joining the department as a Visiting Professor of Sociology for the Fall 2025 semester. Xi is the Schiffman Family Presidential Professor of Sociology and a faculty member of the Graduate Group in Demography at the University of Pennsylvania. She is currently the Scientific and Tech Core Director of the Penn Population Studies Center and a faculty affiliate of the International Max Planck Research School for Population, Health, and Data Science in Germany. During her semester at Columbia, Xi will be teaching a graduate course -- Models of Categorical Data (SOCI6225GR) -- currently open to PhD students.
